NyC – A Place Where Magic Happens
At Nant-y-Cwm (NyC), we believe that something special happens when people come together — to share ideas, tell stories, make music and imagine what might be possible.
This year we’re opening our doors for a season of Inspiring Conversations, Storytelling, Live Music and Shared Meals: evenings designed to inspire, nourish and connect. From thought-provoking speakers and conversations to stories rooted in myth and memory, and music that brings us together, each gathering offers something different, but they all share the same spirit — creating space for curiosity, connection and new possibilities.
And every gathering has another purpose. All proceeds from our events go directly towards supporting Nant-y-Cwm, our precious little Steiner school here in Pembrokeshire — a school rooted in freedom of thought and individuality. Offering an holistic education where childhood is protected, where children are free to be themselves, and where each child is given the space, time and encouragement to discover what unique gifts, they bring to the world.

Join us for a warm and welcoming evening of good food, friendship and community, with our Swiss-French chef, Anne-Valerie Cauteruccio, supporting Nant-y-Cwm Steiner School. Anne-Valerie trained with Anna Bini in Florence and Marie-Blanche de Broglie in France, and will prepare a homemade French and Mediterranean buffet for us to enjoy together.
Hosted at the Penquoit Centre, an extraordinary 17th-century Welsh longhouse, this is an invitation to gather around the table, meet new people, and share an evening of conversation and connection. The proposed menu includes:
- Onion tart and ratatouille
- Mushroom and chicken pie or slow-cooked lamb
- Spinach and mushroom lasagne and gratin dauphinois
- Tarte tatin and chocolate tiramisu for dessert

Each ticket admits one person and includes dinner. Soft drinks are provided but bring your own alcohol.

In this candid talk, Marcus Beck tells the story of the Big Wood Cabin, its journey to Grand Designs and the first year of life beyond the grid under Wales’s One Planet Development scheme.
Expect practical lessons, unexpected challenges and reflections on how storytelling can help radical and unfamiliar ideas connect with a mainstream audience.
