Volunteer

I have a background in graphic design with an interest in sustainability and inclusivity, and a life long love of drawing and illustration. I have developed skills in printmaking, letterpress and calligraphy as well as weaving and wood carving.
I came across Steiner education walking past a kindergarten and seeing the children playing with such conviction and obvious joy in the garden. I took my son to the parent and child group at the same kindergarten and was inspired by the creativity and rhythms I was introduced too. Not only was I re-acquainted with seasonal celebrations to bring into the home I found a beautiful way to connect with my son.
After he finished in Kindergarten in Stroud we decided to move to Wales and start Nant-y-Cwm in year 1 main school. Now he is nearing the end of his time at Nant-y-Cwm and my youngest has come from parent and child group through to main school. My understanding and appreciation of the Steiner philosophy has grown as I have seen my children grow and thrive in the creative environment the school provides. Over the years I have seen many children come to the end of their time at Nant-y-Cwm school with confidence, grace and strength in their own abilities.
I am currently building a straw bale house with my husband and two sons on a developing smallholding under the welsh planning policy, One Planet Development. It’s unique and groundbreaking policy that requires you reduce your carbon footprint and minimise your effect on the environment.
