Born and bred in North Pembrokeshire to a farming family, I have bilingual skills and a passion for nature and beauty around me. I enjoy helping out as a volunteer at Nant-y-Cwm, as the school holds a very special place in my heart, not only for the amazing experience it has given my son, but also all that it offers to everyone who whose lives are touched by this very special place. What makes the school so special is the care, support, and patience of all the staff and the Steiner approach, with its breadth of activities and support for young people in developing a strong sense of self, as well as the capacity to
become socially and economically responsible individuals. 

I currently work as Chief Executive for Adult Learning Wales, the National Adult Community Learning provider for Wales. Working extensively with the voluntary sector, I am firm supporter of lifelong learning opportunities for all people of all ages and circumstances, and committed to driving forward the adult education and inclusivity agenda, giving greater accessibility to learning for communities across Wales.

Committed to championing opportunities for disadvantaged communities, I work across Wales to promote community learning and advocacy through democratic engagement and a wide range of formal and informal learning; helping to advance active citizenship. 

With a background in Human Resource Management, I’m a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and I hold a Post Graduate qualification in HR Management from Swansea Institute of Higher Education.  I have extensive experience in employee engagement and organisational development, across the public and private sectors.   

As a Board Member for Race Council Cymru, I’m actively involved in advancing race equality initiatives.  With a keen interest in the health and wellbeing benefits linked to adult learning, I actively work with Social Prescribing Networks across Wales.  I am an advocate for lifelong learning for children and young people, and I’ve held school governor positions across primary and secondary school education throughout my career.

I’m married to Patrick, who’s my best mate and we have four children, and one granddaughter.  I love nature and the outdoors, and often hike in Pembrokeshire and North Wales.
