I was born a few miles from Heathrow airport, and lived there all my life, until moving to St Dogmaels seven years ago. I have always felt an affinity with Wales. Many of the teachers who inspired me at school were Welsh.
After a degree in Maths & Economics from the London School of Economics and PGCE from St Mary’s in London, I taught maths in a secondary school in Slough, Berkshire for three years before joining HM Customs & Excise. I was there for eighteen years, as a VAT inspector, including three years in a fraud team.
I met my partner, Mick, in Snowdonia on a walking event he organised. After holidaying in Pembrokeshire for nine years, we moved to St Dogmaels in 2012, and it felt like coming home.
Since then, I have worked in finance: in the European funding team in Ceredigion Council, at Cardigan Castle, for PLANED, and Dolen Teifi. I joined Nant-y-Cwm as Finance Administrator in November 2019.
