Collegiate is responsible for maintaining the principles of Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy throughout the school and for matters that are directly connected to the curriculum and the teaching of the children.
Early Childhood (4)
We follow the Steiner Waldorf curriculum to provide a nurturing environment supporting the healthy development of young children. We run Parent and Child groups for families from birth to 3 years, and Kindergarten groups for children aged 3 to 6 years.
We work on areas put forward by teams. We meet throughout the year to discuss proposals and any financial impacts and are also consulted for opinions and consent when required.
Health & Safety (4)
Our role is to support the H&S Coordinator in ensuring that duty holders (Trustees, Collegiate, and SMT) manage and control health, safety and welfare risks effectively, thus preventing harm to children and adults. We develop and promote H&S policies and procedures, and respond to enquiries and requests for advice on H&S issues, including training.
The IT Team supports staff and volunteers using the Nant-y-Cwm Google Workspace. They also maintain and setup user accounts, shared drives, group emails and update the school website.
Marketing focuses on publicising the school to the wider community via social media, the website, brochures, posters and other mediums.

The Parent Support Team was initiated during consultation with parents about Nant y Cwm’s structure. In May 2019 a draft team plan came into being and the team itself is still developing. One function of PST is to inform parents about how they can get involved in the school community, join school teams and contribute at events and festivals.
The role of the Premises Team is to look after the fabric of the building; to survey and assess necessary work proactively and in a timely manner. Jobs are done by the team, with the aid of parent work parties or by professional contractors. The team also ensures that all utilities are running smoothly and that all school safety checks and surveys are carried out on their appropriate calendar date.
The safeguarding team are available to support and provide information and advice to the children, parents, carers, visitors and staff and to deal with any concerns. We work closely with families and external agencies in order to provide the best outcomes for the children and their families.
