Due to the healthy and steadily increasing numbers in the Kindergarten and Parent & Child group, we are currently expanding our Early Years provision at Nant-y-Cwm school.
As such, we’re in the process of recruiting another kindergarten teacher and assistant for a group aimed to support 3-4 year old children.
Most of you will be familiar with our beautiful turfed Kindergarten building, so you’ll probably be wondering how we could possibly fit another group into our cosy setting!
The Early Years Team put their heads together with the main school and came up with the exciting idea of redesigning the wooden classroom to fit the needs of Kindergarten.
Work has started to create a flexible, nurturing space that will be a huge asset to the whole school, with a kitchen that can be accessed during festivals, and indoor toilets that are for use during the Kindergarten day.
Outside an initial area is being cleared to transform a brambly space into a playground.
Developing the land will be an ongoing project the whole school community can get involved in – creating woodland walks, orchards and vegetable and flower gardens.
The new building will be accessed via a pathway that will run parallel to the main school playground, up past the compost toilets.
We are hugely excited about this new project, but as you can imagine there is lots to do! We have already had one work day, with two more planned over the next few weeks. We are appealing for anyone and everyone to come along and help! If gardening is not your thing, we also need crafty fingers to knit, sew and hem. We are also setting up a gofundme page to raise funds to help with the bills.
If you are interested in helping in any way, please register your interest, we would love to welcome you onboard!
