Parent Testimonial

Kath Robson (Chief executive of Adult Learning Wales)

”Following a turbulent time in state education, and not one that we had expected, my 13 year old son found sanctuary, care and support at Nant-y-Cwm Steiner School in 2021. Bruised and battered from relentless bullying, his transformation at Nant-y-Cwm was incredible as we watched him build his confidence and re-engage in a love for learning.

What makes the school special is the care, support and patience of all the staff and the Steiner approach with its breadth of activities and support for young people in developing a strong sense of self, as well as the capacity to become socially and economically responsible individuals. I wholeheartedly recommend Nant-y-Cwm to meet your child’s needs in every sense of the word”

A practical, creative and hands-on education, encouraging children to take action, achieve their goals and contribute to the world.

Children’s mental health across the UK is in decline, from the pressures of modern society and social media influence.

At Nant-y-Cwm we nurture a happy, healthy childhood. How do we do this?

We operate a no phone policy within the school, with children’s mobile phones banned on-site and discouraged at home. Our pupils enjoy their school days without the pressures of social media and the anxiety that accompanies it.

Our small class sizes allow for teachers to get to know and understand the pupils. No children are outsiders, or left to fall behind. All pupils are fully encouraged, supported and really valued for who they are as individuals.

Respect, kindness and co-operation is woven into everything we do. Pupils learn in an environment where they feel support and encouragement from their peers – a place where they can truly be themselves.

While there is healthy diversity amongst the families at Nant-y-Cwm, they all support the nurturing environment that is cultivated at our school. Parents choose not to give mobile phones to children and limit computer games. Children, after all, follow their peers. We’re so lucky to have a school environment where children do not compete over the latest gaming console or designer clothing.
