Children dancing round a may pole

Academic and social success at our Steiner Waldorf school in Wales.

In today’s digital world, where information is just a click away, it’s our pupils independent thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills that truly make them stand out from the crowd. As a Waldorf school in Wales, we focus on helping children thrive beyond traditional measures of success.

Research shows that children who enjoy learning tend to perform better in the long run. At Nant-y-Cwm, we don’t just focus on grades; we gently awaken the natural curiosity that’s already within each child.

Our inspiring curriculum is carefully designed to encourage our pupils to become well-rounded, critical thinkers . We prepare our students not just for exams, but for lifelong academic success and intellectual fulfilment.

An education that values the whole child

We offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum to stimulate the intellect, creating freethinking and knowledgeable pupils

Our school cultivates self-awareness and self-esteem: through the values of care, personal growth, trust, integrity, curiosity, open-mindedness and contribution.

We provide a practical, creative and hands-on education, encouraging children to take action, achieve their goals and contribute to the world.

Children’s mental health across the UK is in decline, from the pressures of modern society and social media influence.

At Nant-y-Cwm we nurture a happy, healthy childhood. How do we do this?

We operate a no phone policy within the school, with children’s mobile phones banned on-site and discouraged at home. Our pupils enjoy their school days without the pressures of social media and the anxiety that accompanies it.

Our small class sizes allow for teachers to get to know and understand the pupils. No children are outsiders, or left to fall behind. All pupils are fully encouraged, supported and really valued for who they are as individuals.

At our Waldorf school in Wales, respect, kindness and co-operation is woven into everything we do. Pupils learn in an environment where they feel support and encouragement from their peers – a place where they can truly be themselves.

While there is healthy diversity amongst the families at Nant-y-Cwm, they all support the nurturing environment that is cultivated at our school. Parents choose not to give mobile phones to children and limit computer games. Children, after all, follow their peers. We’re so lucky to have a school environment where children do not compete over the latest gaming console or designer clothing.
